Did try the previous free version and it was a total disaster on my computer (a just-before-the-black-garbage-bin mac pro). tried to edit a small project in it twice and had lots of problems with crashes, lag, projects not opening anymore. Converting all footage to the same format did help a bit, but didn’t solve all the issues. I’m a bit hesitant to give it a second chance, though it seems the only interesting option on the market since Final Cut X is kind of weird to use and Lightworks has a kind of intuitive and convoluted UI.
Do you know if the new free version has been updated as well, or that’s still the old one?

Thank you for the review. Im using express version, but for fast cut, arange, encode Reaper is a saviour, especialy if you wanna do fast audio fx at same time

How sure are you about the Free Upgrade for pro users. I own a Hitfilm 4 Pro license, and I’ve received an email about discounted upgrade, but have heard nothing about free. I desperately hope you’re right lol

Great info. on this new software.
Will be trying out the free version 1st to see if I want to risk paying for the paid version
