Those Computer Music Magazine offers were only valid for a limited time. You cannot get them retrospectively. Not to mention that many potential users had complained in the past about the huge size of the IKM installer. If it’s still 1.7 gb than it means that IKM does not listen to it’s user base. Personally I stay away from such companies – no hate!

Yeah, I have two TB of installed memory. Space is not the problem. But I like things clean and organized. Which also makes “debugging” easier when the vst scan shows any error/crashes.

And yes, definitely… it’s very satisfying to have a nice collection of freebies from IK. Makes it worth it to have all those files!

kind of related kind of not but i downloaded the black 76 when it was free and now my license doesnt exist anymore. have you ever had an issue with that? ik has terrible registration processes i cant believe it sometimes lol

In reply to BLyte. It can be messy, yes. Last time I just told it to install the plugins in a subfolder caller IK Multimedia and that made it pretty easy to clean up. I'd say thats the only way to keep it tidy and painless...

Yeah, I freakin’ love IK’s plugin design aesthetic (esp for hardware fx like comps, or even this one), and they really do make a few remarkable gems… but they’re just not that kind to their user base. Used to have to pay to re-download libraries, and they still install all kinds of crap you don’t want just to get the bits you do (actually, sort of like FL Studio there)… yeah. I have mixed feelings about IK. But (ahem) I still want that clipper! (facepalm)

Its not necessary. There are free alternatives… freeclip from venn audio comes to mind. But this is a nice to have, though. And most likely of very good quality. I’ll get it for sure.

About the weight, I havent checked this, but I think you can get black 76, white 2a, ONE and VC670 for a couple of bucks if you buy some back issues of computer music magazine (and some other magazine I dont remember). Its all included in those 1.7 gb.

FYI IK Multimedia is pretty terrible in that it will install all VST’s (even the non-free ones) and flood your VST folder in hopes of getting you to buy the other ones. Pretty annoying. I had to go in and delete all the other ones so my VST folder was manageable again.

1.7gb for a clipper lol, It better be worth it when I try it. I imagine most of the weight comes from the Custom Shop thing. is it necessary to use this plugin?
