DRUMPER 1 is a freeware groove box virtual instrument in 32-bit VST plugin format for Windows based host applications, developed and released by SYNTLER.
Well, here’s a weird one. DRUMPER 1 is kind of like an eccentric genius, an incredibly talented poet who inspires the world with his rhymes but lacks any social skills whatsoever and never takes a shower. Lackluster real world comparisons aside, this one is a rather cool virtual instrument which sadly lacks a detailed user manual.
I’ve tested so many plugins in the past several years that my attention span when trying new tools has become shorter than the cycle of a 20 kHz waveform. It either resonates with me right away or its installation folder gets the friendly SHIFT+DEL treatment. This one however wasn’t teleported to the bin, even though I’m still not really sure how I’m supposed to use it. So, why did I keep it then?
It’s because DRUMPER 1 is quite strange, a little bit quirky… and tons of fun at the same time.
I won’t be going too much into detail here (a different way of saying that I don’t really know how to explain this plugin), however I’ll give a brief description of the instrument’s basic functionality and let you guys take over from there. It’s completely up to you to decide whether or not you want to give it a try of course, although it goes without saying that you should definitely grab this one if you’re a fan of experimenting with fresh and original virtual instruments.
DRUMPER 1 is a groove box / drum machine instrument with a built-in sequencer and some interesting features for modifying the sequences on the fly. It comes with editable patterns for each drum element and four preset drum sets. It is possible to mix between two different patterns during playback, as well as to morph between different drum kits. Things can easily go completely bonkers (in a good way!) once you start using the built-in modulation and randomization features to modify the sound of the played sequence.
The plugin can be used to generate some really interesting drum sequences rather quickly and it’s really easy to get drawn into experimenting with different sound parameters for quite some time. DRUMPER 1 is not for the faint of heart, though. It could really do with a nice and detailed user manual, at least if you’re a nerdy user manual reading person such as myself.

onTinkering with it now. Gotta admit, I really like the sounds it makes. They could benefit from a little chopping and resampling, but you could make some really interesting experimental stuff with this DM. I like it! :)
