ADC23 Audio Developer Conference

By James NugentNovember 12, 202334 Comments4 Mins Read
Connect with leading audio industry figures at ADC23 this November

Connect with leading audio industry figures at the ADC23 Audio Developer Conference this November. The event can be attended online, and Bedroom Producers Blog is giving away five tickets to five lucky readers!

ADC23 is a not-for-profit Audio Developer Conference that will take place on November 13-15, 2023. This London-based event will bring together some of the best and brightest audio developers from around the world.

The physical venue for this year’s Audio Developers Conference is The Mermaid (London), but thanks to the Gather Virtual Venue platform, you can attend from the comfort of your own home.

Before I get into virtual attendance, here’s a little about the ADC23.

ADC23 is an event dedicated to exploring and discussing audio development technology and innovative ideas. Throughout the conference, attendees will have access to 65 talks, keynotes, panels, and workshops.

Expert speakers will discuss the role and impact of audio development technology in all applicable areas, including gaming, music applications, embedded systems, and audio processing.

The ADC23 will feature representatives from industry-leading brands like Native Instruments, Avid, Focusrite, and Audiotonix (amongst others).

Key topics at this year’s conference will include:

  • Commercialization of Audio Technology by Josh Reiss.
  • Practical DSP and audio programming workshop with Dominic Cast.
  • Exploring new opportunities in audio software development round table moderated by Andrew Scheps.

Andrew Scheps is a returning guest from 2022, and you can check out his reaction to last year’s event.

YouTube video

The key topics above are just some highlights from an event that’s too expansive to describe fully in a short article. However, whether you are a developer or user of music technology, it’s a chance to learn from people at the forefront of new developments.

A huge part of the appeal of attending industry events is networking with like-minded people and sharing ideas, which brings me back to virtual attendance.

The ADC team has created a virtual conference hall via the Gather platform. Rather than just watching the event play out, virtual attendees can create avatars and connect directly with others. You can access conference rooms, sponsor booths, and even hold private meetings with other guests.

I’ve never experienced a virtual event of this kind, but providing online attendees with the means to interact with other guests in such a meaningful way is pretty epic.

Collaboration in all areas of the music industry is important. In my experience (and many others, I’m sure), I thought I understood music when I could play some Mozart or Scott Joplin as a teenager. But, any real sense of musicianship only came through playing with other musicians.

I’m simplifying things with that example, but whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned pro in audio development, exchanging thoughts with your peers is always a worthy endeavor. Who knows, it could also lead to an unexpected partnership or project.

Bobby Lombardi (Chair of ADC) and his team have done a fantastic job putting ADC23 together, and I recommend checking it out if you can.

I also want to highlight that the ADC relentlessly promotes and celebrates diversity and accessibility in music; without sounding too cheesy (too late), music should unite people with no barriers to entry.

In the spirit of unity, I know some of you have already been enjoying 8Dio’s 1928 Steinway Grand, and I plan to do the same shortly. If you haven’t got it yet, do it now while it’s free.

The Giveaway

We are giving away five tickets to attend the ADC23 online.

To enter the giveaway, please answer the following question in the comments: What music production-related topic would you like to see covered if BPB launched a free online webinar?

We will announce the five lucky winners on November 12th (one day before the event begins).

Good luck, everyone, and thank you for reading BPB!

The winners are:

1) S.Dot

2) Curtis

3) MrP

4) Giovanni

5) Rich Rath

Congratulations, and please check your inboxes! :)

Writing/creative block seems like a topic a lot of folks talk about, yet I haven’t seen on BPB yet (or maybe I haven’t read enough articles). Honestly I would like to hear takes from all BPB writers about it!

As for ADC itself, I’m looking forward to Kanru Hua’ speech about singing synthesis, as I am a big fan of his company product – Synthesizer V Studio

I’d love to see content about Audio Programming. Or perhaps the math of music. How to mathematically program music into a system. Or something along those lines!

There are a lot of resources, tutorial, and courses about audio and music production online.
Something I believe would be extremely interesting are interviews with raising producers, established artists, as well as audio professionals.
These could be in an ‘artist spotlight’, podcasts format, going deeper into artist development, growth, and mindset.
I think it would be interesting to break out of the “tips & tricks” / “how to” formula, and dive a little deeper into the history and uniqueness of the many artists out there.

If BPB (Bedroom Producers Blog) were to launch a free online webinar on music production, there are several topics that could be covered to cater to the interests and needs of aspiring producers. One potential topic that could be explored is “Mastering Techniques for Home Studios.”
