Slate Digital offers BASSHOLE, a free collection of royalty-free samples for everyone who signs up before March 31st.
BASSHOLE is expected to drop on the 31st of March, and all you have to do to be eligible is join the waiting list. If you want to grab this sample pack for free, you’ll need to act fast.
See also: Reverb Offers FREE Vintage Drum Samples Vol. 1 Sound LibraryThe pack contains over 500 royalty-free electric bass, synth bass, and 808 samples (WAV). The electric bass samples include 180 loops and 80 one-shots; synth bass samples have 80 loops and 70 one-shots.
Each of the 180 electric bass loops comes in both direct and amped versions. The 808’s finish off the pack with 100 loops and 60 one-shots.
Generally, if a pack has high-quality samples or something slightly different/quirky, I’ll take it. I might have a project in mind, or it might sit on a drive for months, years even. Maybe that makes me a sample-hoarder, but you never know when you’ll need something.
Slate Digital says they brought in some of the best session bassists in the world to put this project together. The quality is excellent, but you can check out some demo tracks on the giveaway page to see if they suit you.
If you are into sample packs, you should be able to get a lot of mileage from this amount of content. I think bass packs can be pretty versatile, too, depending on how you flip them.
I read/hear a lot of mixed opinions over Slate Digital, whether it’s about the subscription model or the general quality compared to other developers. Typically, I’m not a massive fan of subscription plans; I like to own the things I use.
But, earlier this year, I took the plunge with Slate’s All-Access Pass. I can’t say that I’m suddenly pro subscription yet, but I’m happy so far in terms of the quality and quantity. That’s not an endorsement of any kind, just my 2-cents on Slate; like you, I prefer free, cheap, and on offer!
