This is not the case I have 250 licenses on my Ilok account and there are 3 ways of activating. Machine, Cloud and USB. Most Plugins allow 2 methods. I have one plugin which I only can activate on a Ilok USB. The rest are combinations of Cloud (flexible), Machine (easy) Not all options are always available but I never have used my Ilok USB the one plugin which does need it was a free licence with one activation only.
There is only one system protection the market effectively and that is Ilok……. I hate buying stuff which others can download for free….. There are only a small number of plugins who messed up the implementation of the Ilok being hacked. 99.9 percent of the plugins who use Ilok are safe (on Mac osx) Windows seems to be a different story but I don’t care for windows I prefer a stable OS with a stable DAW with stable plugins…. preferably the protected ones. So I’m pro protection, pro Ilok and pro osx….. not being a apple fanboy at all I have Android for phones and Apple for iPads, MacBooks and Mac Pro machines.

It’s out of my price range, and above my skill level, unfortunately. Basic bedroom mixing is where I’m at.
Sknote DolA is another enhancer/exciter, this appears to emulate the use, or misuse of Dolby hardware.
A similar kind of effect can be achieved by using stock DAW plugins.
