Very very different, it would be an apples and oranges comparison – Heartbeat is all about vintage sounds, while the Sonic Academy Kick doesn’t emulate a hardware drum machine but instead synthesizes a modern layered kick. Which one you like better is entirely a matter of taste.

It would be easier to compare Sonic Academy Kick to Drzewo Korzenie Kick or BigRoomKix Synth, which also do multiple layers at once. D16 Punchbox should also be like this – it hasn’t been released yet but the teaser video looks great, and I hope to review it when it’s released.
