Free “Regrader” Lo-Fi Delay VST Plugin Released By Igorski

Igorski has released Regrader, a freeware lo-fi delay effect in VST and VST3 plugin formats for compatible digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.

Regrader features multiple audio-degrading modules in the feedback path, resulting in an interesting lo-fi effect. Apart from the basic Echoes section which controls the delay time, feedback, and mix, the plugin also includes a Filter section, as well as Gravel, Horror, and Warble modules. Gravel and Warble control stereo and pitch modulation, whereas Horror distorts the feedback signal via bitcrushing and sample rate reduction. The Filter module contains a resonant low-pass filter which can be modulated as well.

The user interface is nicely laid out, with clearly labeled control parameters and a subtle color scheme. The theme reminds me of old PC interfaces (think MS-DOS and Norton Commander) which corresponds nicely to the plugin’s sonic properties.

As for the sound, chances are you’ll love using Regrader if you’re a fan of noisy and slightly quirky effects. Although similar sounding plugins are already available on the freeware market (such as the excellent HY-Delay by HY-Plugins), Regrader is optimized to do one very well and that is to deliver degraded, digital sounding delays with tons of retro character.

Regrader can be downloaded completely free of charge from the product page linked below. It comes packed in a ZIP archive which contains the manual installation files. The effect is compatible with all VST and VST3 plugin hosts on Windows and MacOS (both 32-bit and 64-bit systems are supported).
