Denoiser Is A FREE Noise Reduction Tool For Podcasts And Music

Denoiser Is A FREE Noise Reduction Tool For Podcasts And Music

Bertom has released Denoiser, a freeware noise reduction effect in VST3 and AU plugin formats for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.

Denoiser is a noise reduction plugin for removing noise from audio recordings, including music, post-production, spoken word, and dialogue. It features a simple user interface that is beginner-friendly and optimized for quickly cleaning up the audio for podcasts and demo music tracks. Due to its zero-latency processing, Denoiser can also be used as an insert effect during a live broadcast.

The interface features a pair of filters (high-pass and low-pass) and five vertical sliders for adjusting the noise reduction on five different frequency bands. All five sliders can be moved simultaneously by clicking and dragging the Link control. The slider on the left side on the interface controls the Threshold value for the noise reduction algorithm.

Unlike most noise reduction tools, Denoiser’s noise reduction algorithm doesn’t need to analyze a static noise profile. Instead, it tracks how the noise part of the audio signal is evolving in each band and removes it. It operates similar to a dynamic equalizer, in the sense that there is no apparent phase shift when there is no noise reduction. One thing to keep in mind when using Denoiser is that it works best for moderate noise reduction. Don’t push it too hard as this may introduce clearly audible noise reduction artifacts.

So, who is this plugin for? If you don’t need a super-advanced noise production tool, look elsewhere. But, if you need something to quickly clean up a recorded or live piece of audio, Bertom Denoiser is worth looking into. The plugin provides very decent results while being easy to use and very light on CPU consumption.

Denoiser can be downloaded free of charge from Bertom’s website. Both 32-bit and 64-bit plugin hosts are supported. A valid email address is required to receive the download link. You will be asked to confirm your subscription to Bertom’s mailing list before the download link is delivered to your inbox.

Hi Tomislav, I hope you are well and safe. thanks I really appreciate your effort with your website. Just to let you know that I tried to use it with Ableton, I put the vst3 file in my vst3 folder as usual, but Ableton doesn’t recognize it. Any ideas why? I have no issue with other plugins. Have a great day!

Hi Ben. Make sure you’re not mixing up 32bit & 64bit and that Ableton is looking for it in the right location. If it still doesn’t work and if you’re on Windows, try installing the 2015/2017/2019 Microsoft’s C++ runtime redistributable (you’ll find a link on my website), it could be missing. Let me know if it solves your problem. Thanks!

Hi Tomislav, thank you so much for this :) Just to tell that it’s no longer requiered to subscribe to the mailing list since the plugin itself has now an update checking mecanism built into it (and, thanks to you, it was growing ridiculously big for something I didn’t need anymore haha). There is also a new website on a custom domain which enables me to be lot cleaner concerning cookies etc : https://www.bertomaudio.com.
    Thanks again!
    Tom.

Hi Tomislav, thanks for this I really needed it for my noisy room haha. When it comes to installing, do I just delete the 32 bit from the folder or how do I go about this? thanks again.

Note that Version 1.2 will not work in Audacity (2.3.1) if the sample rate is 48KHz, just produces clicking noises.
Change the sample rate to 44.1KHz and all good.

Just keep in mind that this is only a VST3 Plugin, and so was not compatible with Reason, and I’m sure many other DAW. Disappointing as just paid $2 and can’t actually use the plugin. Seems like it would be wise to mention this. Any ideas?

Hi, I have downloaded the denoiser, and went through setup, but that is all it does, it doesn’t give me a VST3 file for the path of the audio software to recognise? Thanks Lance.
