Bucket Pops Is A FREE Korg Minipops 7 Emulation By FBM

By Tomislav ZlaticDecember 2, 202016 Comments4 Mins Read
Bucket Pops by Full Bucket Music

Full Bucket Music released Bucket Pops, a free Korg Minipops 7 analog drum machine emulation in VST and AU plugin formats for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac.

Bucket Pops emulates the Korg Minipops 7, a retro analog drum machine from the 1960s. These early drum machines by Korg were designed to provide a drum backing track for guitarists and keyboard players. They offered preset rhythms and drum sounds that the user couldn’t edit.

The virtual Bucket Pops drum machine by Full Bucket Music features fifteen different drum channels and twenty rhythms. Unlike the original Minipops drum machine, both the drum sounds and the rhythms can be edited by the user.

It’s also worth noting that the Bucket Pops plugin isn’t sample-based. It utilizes synthesis to generate the emulated Korg Minipops 7 sounds in real-time. This is especially noticeable when changing the tuning of a drum sound, as there is no loss in audio quality that is associated with changing the pitch of an audio sample.

The instrument’s front panel provides the basic controls for volume adjustment and rhythm selection. This is where you can select the active drum groove, set the tempo, and fine-tune the Quijada, Guiro, and Tambourine instruments’ volume.

Bucket Pops lets you fine-tune each drum sound.

The advanced controls for drum tweaking and rhythm sequencing are available on separate panels labeled Settings and Sequence (accessible via buttons in the lower-right corner of the interface).

The Settings panel is where you’ll find the tone controls for Bucket Pops’ fifteen drum channels. Each drum channel offers tuning, attack/decay, level, pan, output, and MIDI note adjustments. Some of the channels (Snare, Conga, Cowbell, etc.) offer additional settings like resonance, high-pass, and tick.

The step sequencer is located in the Sequence section. The user can edit any of the preset rhythms or create new rhythms from scratch and save them for later use. The sequencer offers a few time-saving workflow enhancements, such as the ability to fill a sequence with a series of notes (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, etc.).

The drum sequencer is a welcome feature, but it can look quite busy.

Since the step sequencer can get very busy when you’re working on a more complex drum groove, it’s helpful that Bucket Pops features a resizable user interface. You can set it to any size from 50% to 800% via the Options menu.

The user can assign each control to a different MIDI parameter via MIDI learn. It is also possible to export the current drum sequence as a MIDI file for use in a DAW.

Full Bucket Music constantly delivers high-quality virtual instruments, and Bucket Pops is no exception. Be sure to download it if you’re a fan of old-school drum machines. Also, don’t miss Full Bucket Music’s recently released Fury-800 and Tricent Mk III plugins.

Bucket Pops is available for free download from the product page linked below. You can download the plugin directly from the developer’s website without signing up for a user account.

The software is available in VST and AU plugin formats for compatible digital audio workstations on PC and Mac. Both 32-bit and 64-bit plugin hosts are supported.

I will tell you that this developer plugin is probably of interest to me (with all due respect to others). I have used Rythmus electrostudio so far, but I see this one as a natural extension of the previous one (free of course) – built-in sequencer, splits tracks into separate tracks in daw, greater sound control and … better sound

I share 100%, I regularly use elektrostudio rhytmus but it is only in 32bits, this one from fullbucket comes as a great gift from heaven, with more control and great sound, excellent !!!
