Karanyi Sounds offers the Continuo ($59 value) cinematic sound library for Kontakt as a free download for a limited time.
Continuo is a cinematic instrument powered by Kontakt. The developer Karanyi Sounds describes it as a “cinematic texture designer” that is tailor-made for generating atmospheric pads, soundscapes, and cinematic drones.
The library uses guitar sounds as the sound source. However, it uses innovative sampling techniques and Kontakt’s sound processing capabilities to turn these guitar sounds into huge-sounding cinematic textures.
It’s also worth noting that Continuo uses the Layer Designer Engine, which allows the user to combine up to four sound layers. The layering makes it easy to create larger-than-life cinematic textures for use in cinematic soundtracks, trailer music, and more.
Of course, you can also use these sounds in your music. They are fantastic for adding depth and tension to electronic music, especially for intros or breakdowns.
The interface is simple, but it lets you customize the sounds and create custom combinations of the included multi-samples.
The Layers panel is where you’ll control the Layer Design Engine. You can adjust each layer’s sound source and process it with a multi-mode filter, effects, and modulation.
The Master panel lets you fine-tune the final sound by applying a limiter, compressor, and a four-band EQ. It’s handy for removing unwanted frequencies and adding a bit of glue to the sound on the output.
It’s amazing how quickly you can create complex timbres by layering just a few of Continuo’s sound sources. The included presets sound great, but the instrument really comes to life once you start playing around with the layering engine in the send effects.

onThanks, this was an easy download and installation. The library sounds pretty decent for ambient/drone, and it is not very CPU incentive, which I find many soundscape libs to be.

onI have so much to add, but nothing more than appreciation is affordable in this format. iT sucks that I am a musician and self produce from necessity only, also the fact that my coding experience is limited. I find the topics within fascinating and time saving is always at a premium, so there is definitely something to that as well. Clearly, having this source to reference is one key I employ, but welcome face to face discussion. I’m confident I can hold my own. Cheers!

onI somehow don’t get this to work. I have a full Version Kontakt 7 but this Plugin doesn’t come with anything to install. If I load the nki files directly they report an error. What am I doing wrong?
