Get Arturia’s Delay Tape-201 FREE with any Loopcloud membership

By James NugentSeptember 3, 202429 Comments3 Mins Read
Arturia Delay

You can now get Arturia’s Delay Tape-201 free with any Loopcloud membership.

Before getting into Arturia’s Delay Tape-201 plugin, let’s briefly overview Loopcloud and what it has to offer.

Loopcloud is a platform that boasts the largest sample library on the planet, with access to over four million samples. As a Loopcloud user, I never fail to find whatever I need quickly.

YouTube video

Besides the vast number of samples available, Loopcloud offers some unique features like the eight-track editor, pattern creator, and exclusive plugins.

It also offers a speedy workflow with sensible tagging and seamless DAW integration.

Monthly subscription plans are:

  • Artist – £5.99
    Studio – £9.99
    Professional – £17.99

Each plan offers different benefits, and you can save money by going for an annual subscription.

At a glance, Arturia’s Delay Tape-201 is instantly recognizable as an emulation of the iconic Roland RE-101 Space Echo.

YouTube video

If you want a delay that gets you closer to a literal space echo, check out AudioThing’s Moon Echo plugin.

Arturia isn’t the first developer to offer a take on Roland’s famous hardware unit, but this offering is one of the most accurate.

One of the things I like most about the Delay Tape-201 plugin is that the Mode Selector lets you cycle through ideas quickly.

Modes 1-4 are in the Repeat category, 5-11 are Reverb and Echo, and if you go all the way, it’s Reverb only.

You get pretty in-depth control over all areas, starting with the Repeat Rate. You can sync to the tempo of your project, run free, or separate the left and right for more diverse effects.

The emulated spring reverb tank adds ambience and atmosphere that can be lush and dreamy or quite intense.

The EQ section allows you to shape your sound to craft the perfect character; Delay Tape-201 offers more than just a vintage 70s vibe.

The plugin is an excellent way to make any sound more interesting and exciting.

You can go pretty deep with the controls, but if you’re looking for inspiration, making a few small adjustments, then cycling through the modes is a good way to go.

Although they can get pricey, I’m a fan of Arturia’s vintage effects and instrument emulations. Delay Tape-201 is lovely!

Check out the deal: Loopcloud (Arturia’s Delay Tape-201 free with any Loopcloud membership – ends September 30th)

No, that’s not how it works and if people were to continue doing things like that, Loopcloud and the devs who offer their software through them would likely just make the process less accessible and more of a hassle for legit paying customers.

Brenny C’s right. The serial code can only activate the plugin for one user’s account, It’s pointless to share the code.

Today I got an E-mail with access to download 176 IR that has been created with Eventide H90 by Beat Magazine, via their Plugins-Samples website. A pack they call “BLCK SHMMR”

I dunno if one has to be subscribed to their newsletter to get it ?

The 600 MB download also contains Wave Arts Convology XT for Win and OSX (which is a bit unnecessary as that can be downloaded for free from Wave Arts anyhow)

Nice one, thanks Numanoid. I’ll try to find a public link for this, if available.

Not ONLY a new free instrument! Seems like Venus Theory is gonna make a whole new SERIES of free instruments! :D

In his video, he expresses disappointment over once-awesome-&-free projects such as LABS switching to a paid-subscription & always-online model, & he would like to carry on that legacy (of awesome free sounds for struggling/beginning composers) as best as he can.

If we can be honest, LABS died the day Christian left Spitfire. RIP LABS.

So, do I get the plugin if I start the trial and cancel the subscription before it charges me, or does it take to actually go through the trial and start a plan to get the plugin?

Previously and probably still, you can have a free trial period at Loopcloud one time and cancel before the paid subscription begins, and get the plugin immediately during the trial.

You get the instructions to redeem your free plugin as soon as you start your free trial. You can cancel the subscription before the trial period ends to avoid being charged.

There is now a free version of Wave Alchemy’s fantastic drum instrument TRIAZ: TRIAZ Player. It comes with a quite extensive demo library of drum kits and corresponding patterns that can be expanded with expansion packs.

Unlike in the big version of TRIAZ you cannot import your own samples and while the internal sequencer and some other features are disabled, you can still drag the sequences from the presets into the DAW though. Otherwise you will get access to all the effects and sound shaping options.

CAUTION: I don’t know whether it’s a deliberate restriction, since it strikes me as odd: if you edit one of the existing presets apparently one cannot save the changes (unless I’m doing something wrong, but the SAVE button seems to be deactivated). I understand the other restrictions, but not being able to save the sound you dialed in makes it almost unusable even as a lite version. This way the “Player” version basically becomes a demo version of little usefulness. I can basically play with the sound shaping options that TRIAZ has, but not recall once I close the session. It’s hard to believe this is intended, so I hope this is a bug.

Kasi, I’m pretty sure that’s intentional because Triaz Player is only meant to be a demo version. If one was able to save all of their edits, it would almost certainly cut down on the amount of potential buyers of the full version.

While I understand your frustration and I too wish it were more functional, Wave Alchemy’s decision to restrict Triaz Player makes perfect sense business wise. And unlike you, I do find the Player version to still be a rather generous demo and well worth a download.

        Hi Brenny C,

        thanks for sharing your perspective.

I don’t expect a free “player” version (= lite version) to have all the features of the big paid version obviously. As I said earlier: I’m not surprised that some of the integral features are missing. I totally get that.

It really makes a huge difference whether you can or can’t import your own samples, search for individual sounds to create your own kts, use the sequencer features or not. I accept that only the paid version of TRIAZ has these crucial features.

But withholding the ability to save settings you made to the presets that Triaz Player comes with is taking it a bit too far. It indeed turns the “player” version into a mere demo version, that has little to no utility.

And I find it strange, since Triaz Player is also made to be used with additional expansion packs, that can be bought. Why would I buy an expansion packs and fine tune the settings with the onboard effects and shaping features, only to find that I cannot save and recall my settings? When I work with drum engines, the mere minimum I want to be able to edit is the envelope / shape of the individual drums. Triaz (Player) has great options for that, but I cannot save it.

I understand that there are producers who are totally content with using preset sounds and who have no ambition to add their own mark to their music. A mere preset playback engine might make more sense to them, than to those of us who are into sound design. That’s okay.

Fair points, Kasi, and I agree. I too wish it didn’t have the limitations that it has. But again, I still think it’s a decent free bit of kit.

And who knows? Maybe in the future Wave Alchemy will decide to nix the current inability to save edited patches in the Player version – but I definitely don’t see them ever allowing sample imports.

I imagine their response to any critique of the limitations would be “Don’t like them? Then buy the full version!” Lol.

So I’ll just use it as-is for now and if I ever get to the point where I can’t live without it, I’ll fork over the cash. In the meantime, I still like what I get for free. 😎

P.S. But yes, it *is* pretty crazy that you can’t save edits. I can’t think of (m)any plugins that don’t allow the user to save their own patches; at least saving them to be accessible once purchased. Perhaps it couldn’t hurt to send Wave Alchemy a note saying as much. The worst that can happen is they respond with what I mentioned in my other comment. Lol

For anyone looking for a legit way to get this plugin for free, I had luck by adding the subscription to my cart but not purchasing it. A while later (less than 24 hours), I got an email with a code for a free month from Loopcloud. That did the trick.

Yes, I had the same thing. But keep in mind that this code is given only once very rarely, probably after you have ever subscribed for a fee or on a promotion!
