Producer Secrets is giving away the Bitwig Studio 8-Track lightweight DAW (99 USD/EUR value) via social media channels.
If you go to the Producer Secrets site linked below, you can follow one of their socials/messenger channels to access the free DAW, which is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux.
Producer Secrets teamed up with Bitwig to offer the freebie and made 1,500 licenses available as part of the promo.
You better get in quickly if you want to pick up the DAW, as the freebie expires on August 2, 2024.
As part of the promotion, you can also get a free version of the Colossal Choirs & Voices Bundle for the Bitwig Sampler, which includes 5.9 GB of samples and presets.
Bitwig describes 8-Track as a “sketch pad for your musical ideas featuring the acclaimed workflow of Bitwig Studio.”
The developer added that the “trim and effective digital audio workstation” will get you on track “to start producing, performing, and designing sounds like a pro.”
Bitwig offers three tiers to their DAW, which are: Bitwig Studio Essentials (99 USD/EUR), Bitwig Studio Producer (199 USD/EUR), and Bitwig Studio (399 USD/EUR).
Note that all three are on sale at the moment on the Bitwig site, so the current prices are reduced to 79 USD/EUR, 149 USD/EUR, and 299 USD/EUR, respectively.
The budget tier, Bitwig Studio Essentials, is where you will find 8-Track.
If you own a copy of 8-Track, then you can use that to get a cheaper upgrade to the full version of Bitwig Studio.
Note that I’ve never attempted to buy an upgrade based on an 8-Track gained through a freebie, so I’m not sure if the upgrade path would be affected by that.
As you might have guessed from the name, 8-Track features eight audio-instrument hybrid tracks.
This is fairly limited for a DAW, but for some users, it might do the trick just fine.
8-Track features two effect tracks, two group tracks, eight scenes, two VST plugins, up to 32-bit audio export, 4/8 audio I/O busses, and three-time stretching algorithms (Stretch, Stretch HD, and Slice).
8-Track is rounded out by a total of 40 instruments, effects, note FX, and modulators.
These include a sampler, polymer, drum machine, 17 audio FX, 10 modulators, and the ability to control hardware devices by MIDI and CV/Gate.

onTo me Bitwig is in particular useful for Linux users, as it feels like (dare I say it) just like Windows.
And there are many VSTs that are now available as .so which means they can effortlessly be used in a Bitwig and Bitwig 8 track on Linux
So for anybody thinking about making a jump from Windows to Linux, Bitwig 8 track is good way to check out how it feels.
What annoys me with the latest Bitwig 8 track v5.1 (which is given away here), is that the access to PolySynth has been removed and instead added Polymer. So for anybody that have used Bitwig 8 track to make tracks using Polysynth, think twice about “upgrading” as it will be more like a downgrade.

onI just received my license. I had to redeem it again, because they ran out. Beat/Serialcenter was even kind enough to email me and let me know, that they restocked the licenses. The “process” was super easy and fast. Great offer.

onI’m gonna try to get a license for this bitwig 8 track. I didn’t have the patience to learn their trial version I downloaded a few months ago. The difference here is I can take my sweet time learning this daw if I can. And make a financial investment in it later.
