Klevgränd Releases FREE Santa Jussi Vocal Synthesizer

Klevgränd has released Santa Jussi, a freeware virtual instrument based on its popular Jussi vocal synthesizer VST plugin.

Santa Jussi is a simple vocal synthesizer virtual instrument for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac. It is a no-knob plugin, meaning that there are literally no controls on the user interface. The MIDI note input controls the pitch and the velocity of the generated voice. Everything else happens under the hood, powered the same synthesis engine used in Klevgränd’s more advanced Jussi virtual instrument.

The vocal tone generated by Santa Jussi is lo-fi but also warm and certainly very interesting. The plugin sounds kind of like a vinyl sample of a solo voice but without the nasty artifacts when played at a different pitch. The note velocity also affects the tone and the vowel of the generated vocal, resulting in a more expressive performance. It’s hard to put into words, but I absolutely love Santa Jussi’s sound character. Remember the legendary Delay Lama virtual instrument by AudioNerdz? Well, Santa Jussi is a lot like that plugin but with a Christmas theme. Whereas Delay Lama featured a singing monk, Santa Jusi features a singing Santa. And much like Delay Lama, the freebie vocal synthesizer by Klevgränd is very fun to use. Despite not having any sort of advanced control over the sound, the instrument is expressive and very musical. I can see myself using it as a background element in a music track sooner than later.
