ADSR Drum Machine Released ($49 Intro Price)

By James NugentMay 19, 20222 Comments3 Mins Read
ADSR Drum Machine

ADSR has released the ADSR Drum Machine, complete with a fully-functional 30-day free trial.

ADSR Drum Machine has a retail price of $69 (limited time introductory price of $49), but you can test it out free of charge for 30 days.

The free trial doesn’t come with any strings attached; it’s not a lite version, and there are no locked features. You get the fully-featured plugin and standalone versions to test out for a month.

The ADSR Drum Machine is a kind of one-stop-shop for everything you need to make great beats.

It starts with a nice color-coded, three-tab interface (Sound & FX, Sequencer, and Mixer).

The drum machine includes a comprehensive library of kits (over 50), samples, and sequences (over 800), so it’s easy to get going right out the gate.

There are sixteen pads and four choke groups, which you’ll need when you start to make more complex grooves.

Assigning sounds/samples to the sixteen pads is a simple drag and drop process. You can quickly build custom kits or tweak existing preset kits.

ADSR Drum Machine lets you get pretty deep into shaping the perfect drum sounds. It features a three-stage envelope (Transient, Hold, Decay) tuned for drums and percussion. It also features per pad pitch shifting and multi-channel processing. These kinds of features make ADSR Drum Machine seem like a tool you could spend a lot of time with, creating unique kits for different genres.

There are some onboard effects that you can apply to pads, master, sends, and buses. One of the coolest features is that you can split pads into two parts (transient and body), each with its own FX chain.

When you have your sounds locked in, there’s a fantastic mixer to get everything in its right place.

No harm in trying it out, and if it improves your workflow, you can buy it for the introductory price of $49 until June 10th. The purchase would give you a free copy of Sound Particles Energy Panner as a bonus.

If you’re looking for something that’s permanently free, you could check out Drum8 by Audiolatry. And if you need a simple drum sampler, check out Sitala or Speedrum Lite.

ADSR Drum Machine is available in standalone, AU, and VST3 formats for macOS (10.14 minimum) and Windows 10.

A written manual would be helpful. Never could figure out the per pad pitch shifting.

The demo looks nice but it’s missing basic facilities that a VST3 instrument needs, like Midi Learn to let you map hardware controllers easily to the buttons on the screen.
