Free Claps & Stomps Kontakt Library Released By Julien Tauban

Julien Tauban from Loops de la Crème has released Claps-Stomps-Snaps, a great sounding NI Kontakt sample library which can be downloaded for free after filling out a short survey on the Loops de la Crème website.

The library can be purchased for €4 if you prefer taking that route, however Julien Tauban is offering it as a free download to anyone who fills out a short customer survey located on the product page. You won’t even be asked to register for a user account. Simply fill out the survey consisting of three questions in total (one of which is optional) and the download link for the Claps-Stomps-Snaps sample collection will appear in your browser.

Having created a similar themed sample library myself a while ago (it’s called Hands Make Sounds and you can download it for free via 99Sounds), I wasn’t really too thrilled about downloading this latest freebie by Loops de la Crème. After all, exactly how many clap samples on your hard drive is considered as too many? But I was wrong. This is an awesome sample library, especially considering the fact that includes some great sounding foot stomps and studio room impulse responses in addition to the standard claps and snaps.

Claps-Stomps-Snaps comes with a handy custom user interface for NI Kontakt, providing easy access to filter cutoff controls, a simple AR envelope for the volume, a reverb module and four preset effects which can be switched on or off (compressor, amplifier simulation, limiter and an equalizer). You’ll need the full version of NI Kontakt in order to use the included NKI patch without any limitations (you’ll also need to update your NI Kontakt installation to the latest version), however Julien has generously also included the individual WAV files which can be used in virtually any sampler instrument or digital audio workstation on the market.

The library includes 49 samples in total, spread across four octaves of the MIDI keyboard. I really had a blast playing the included NKI patch, as the keyboard layout is tons of fun to jam out with. You can achieve some great sounding group claps and foot stomps by bashing multiple keys with the palm of your hand (it will also make you look like the worst keyboard player in the world). I hereby challenge you all to resist the urge of performing your rendition of “We Will Rock You” during your first few minutes with Claps-Stomps-Snaps. The temptation is hard to overcome, you’ll see! :)

The included samples sound very nice, especially the foot stomps which are simply amazing, packing tons of boom and punch. I also liked the reverb impulse responses which were recorded in the new Loops de la Crème recording studio. Some of the sounds have just a bit too much noise in the tail, but that can be fixed by adjusting the release parameter on the amplitude envelope. Otherwise, Claps-Stomps-Snaps is a fantastic sample library and well worth the download.
