Baby Comeback Delay Plugin Is Now FREE For All!

Baby Audio is now offering the Baby Comeback delay plugin (previously a Computer Music magazine exclusive) as a free download from their website.

Baby Comeback is a free delay plugin based on Baby Audio’s popular Comeback Kid delay/echo effect. It was developed in collaboration with Computer Music magazine and came as a freebie in the August 2020 issue.

Of course, Baby Comeback CM lacks some of the features available in the full version of Comeback Kid. There are fewer controls for the user to tweak, and the tone shaping parameters are only available as presets. That said, the free version of the plugin still sounds excellent, and it’s a surprisingly versatile delay effect. It is a must-try if you like using colorful delays in your music.

Let’s start with the plugin’s coolest feature. Much like its bigger brother, Baby Comeback CM can sound modern and clean, as well as vintage and lo-fi. You can use it for adding a subtle wide delay to a lead vocal, or as a massive vintage tape echo for your next shoegaze track.

There are four delay flavors to choose from. The “Wide” mode sounds clean while expanding the stereo image. The “Analog” mode is inspired by vintage tape delay units and bucket brigade echoes of yesteryear. “Saucey” delivers a lush delay sound that works exceptionally well on synth leads and pads. Finally, the “Cheap” mode emulates 80s rack delays and their irresistibly quirky lo-fi sounds.

Another feature worth mentioning is the Duck control. It will automatically lower the volume of the delayed signal when the input signal is present. This feature is a lifesaver if you want to add a lot of delay to a vocal while keeping the lyrics intelligible. The delay will remain audible, but the main vocal will cut right through it.

The other parameters are pretty self-explanatory. Use the Time and Feedback controls to adjust the timing and fine-tune the volume using the Dry and Wet knobs.

Baby Comeback is available for free download via Baby Audio. Visit the Freebies page on their website and submit your email address to unveil the download link. You will receive a ZIP file containing the installer.

      Just tried it, and I gotta say it has a lot of unique features: duck (still rare among delays), individual volume knobs for dry and wet (you can boost dry), built-in limiter (analog saturation), POSSIBILITY TO SET TIME TO 1/100 OF MILLISECOND! Essentially making it a room reverb. And turn delay completely off, leaving FX presets on. Awesome sauce.

      This plugin has far more features built in. you dont have to automate things like you have to do in other plugins. try out even i was surprised.

    121 MB? Yes, but that zip contains OSX and Win versions, Win version is VST2, VST3 and AAX in 32 and 64bit. You don’t have to install all the versions (each about 15 MB), unless you need them.
    Horrible GUI? It’s a bit dark, alright, it’s a bit tiny is more my problem with it.
    Why another delay? It’s got 4 modes to add some color to the sound. You might find them useful, or not.
    Even used a simple delay, it’s got a ducker and that is something all, even the simplest of delays should have. I’m looking at you ReaDelay. *grin*

    This is actually for computer music magazine readers,but if you know the link,you can download it too.This plugin is quite decent for a freeibe,though the gui is a little bit confussed.

    Baby Audio next time give separate zip file for each format.. I don’t wanna download bunch of files which I won’t install… Skipping juzz bcoz it’s 121MB…
