Get Spitfire Audio’s BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover For FREE

BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover by Spitfire Audio

Spitfire Audio is offering the new BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover ($49 value) virtual instrument as a free download for everyone who fills out a questionnaire on the company’s website. The download link will be delivered fourteen days after completing the questionnaire.

BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover is Spitfire Audio’s brand new, super-affordable orchestra virtual instrument in VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin formats for digital audio workstations on PC and Mac. It is based on the same recordings that were used for the BBC Symphony Orchestra Professional ($999) library. However, BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover only contains around 200 MB of audio data. It contains 35 instruments with 47 articulations and one mixed-signal patch.

The library features a streamlined user interface that was designed to be intuitive and easy to use. Some of the design elements were borrowed from Spitfire Audio’s massively popular LABS virtual instrument platform. The user can choose between four types of articulation (long, spiccato, pizzicato, and tremolo), adjust the volume, and the intensity of the built-in effects. You get all the classic orchestra sounds – strings, woodwind, brass, and percussion.

As for the sound quality, if you’re even wondering, BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover sounds absolutely fantastic. Spitfire Audio are the masters of their craft and these are among the best orchestra sounds you can get in your DAW. The only other freely downloadable orchestra library that comes close in terms of quality is ProjectSAM’s excellent The Free Orchestra for Kontakt.

A whole orchestra of the highest quality at your fingertips. Designed to make orchestral scoring accessible to music creators of every level – from those just starting out, to professional composers.

BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover is priced at $49 but you can get it completely free of charge if you fill out a questionnaire. Click the “Or Free” link next to the “Add To Cart” button on the product page to access the questionnaire. Keep in mind that you will need to wait fourteen days for the download link to arrive.

UPDATE: At the moment, you can redeem the coupon code spitfirexnamm2021 at checkout to get the library for free without waiting (but the coupon code will likely expire soon).

More info: BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover ($49 base price, free if you fill out a questionnaire, try using the coupon code spitfirexnamm2021 to get the library for free without waiting)

Here we go again. Rant mode activated!
A questionnaire? ‘Are you now or have you ever been a member of the Communist Party?’
What’s next, a DNA test to see if you’re worthy enough?
Yeah, nice. Rant mode off. :D

I can definitely see what you’re getting at. And it makes sense. I value my privacy, as should everyone else. But I went on there to look at the survey, and it really isn’t all that invasive.

Oh come on, it’s just a standard survey to understand their potential customers and on what new instruments and video tutorials they should focus next. If telling someone about your favorite LABS instruments or music youtubers feels like breaking privacy… well, I have some foil caps to sell, contact me.

It shouldn’t be invasive. I mean Google/Android collect more PERSONAL data in one minute than a questionnaire asking how they can improve. Not the same.

Yah, so guess how I feel ’bout them. >_<
But the fact remains that it never seems to end, the trading away of 'free' stuff against collection of data.
Surveys are fine, they used to be optional, Not even sure this is legal in some countries. Bring on the ninja lawyers!

considering it’s the BBC, the question would rather be “Are you a member of the Communist Party, and if not, why not?”

Looks like it’s only free if you don’t have enough money. They’re trusting your honesty.

“BBC Symphony Orchestra Discover *OUT OF YOUR BUDGET*?
Complete the questionnaire below and we’ll send you a free”

    FAQ:
Why would I pay if I can get it for free?
At Spitfire Audio we support our musicians by paying them royalties on the products we sell, as well as any initial costs at all recordings, so any revenue made from this product will help fund the musicians who feature on the library.

Gee, I don’t know, maybe there are actually some decent people out there who have money and are willing to support a company even when they aren’t required to? I know..crazy, innit?

Yeah, this is why I didn’t get it.
Pretty clearly violates the spirit of what they’re doing

That stands on its own as reason to not do so if you actually have $50 lying around.

BUT what piles another mountain of reasons on top is all of the excellent tools they already provide for free through Spitfire LABS.
If you’re truly destitute and can’t swing $50, this offer is for you!
If you just don’t feel like paying, grab the LABS stuff instead.

(Having said that, they know people on the internet are take it for free when they could easily pay.
Would be nice if less people did that though.)

Those who can afford to pay but didn’t do it will more likely crossgrade to BBC Core at some point anyway, so it’s still a win-win situation for everyone.

I’m really looking forward to this! Selfishly, I wish it wasn’t gonna take 2 weeks to receive. But Spitfire Audio is a good company with cool products (I love the free LABS) and I believe this will be well worth the wait!

It’s a great thing that it’s free but why do I have to wait 2 weeks after filling out their survey? Are they really going to look through my “application” and deny me? Quite ridiculous for them to do this.
