MeldaProduction Releases FREE MonasteryGrand Virtual Instrument

MeldaProduction has released MonasteryGrand, a freely downloadable piano sound library for the MSoundFactory Player plugin (also freeware).

MonasteryGrand is a free expansion sound library for MeldaProduction’s virtual instrument plugin called MSoundFactory. The instrument is available in three different pricing options (Full, LE, and Player). The free edition of the plugin named MSoundFactory Player is completely free to use and fully compatible with the MonasteryGrand sound library.

The library is based on a collection of grand piano recordings that were captured in a monastery near Pilsen, a city in Czechia. MeldaProduction sampled the grand piano in a concert hall, capturing the outstanding natural acoustics of the space. The instrument has a bright and airy grand piano sound that is quite modern and perfectly suitable for pop and rock music. That said, there are plenty of tone adjustments available to completely alter the piano’s sound character.

MonasteryGrand comes with a custom user interface for the MSoundFactory Player plugin. The user can adjust the volume of three different microphones, the room size and ambiance amount, as well as the hardness of the played notes. The instrument also features three tone-shaping controls (Bass, Body, and Air), a stereo width knob, and a harmonizer with a -12 to 24 semitone range. The FX panel is where you will find four additional effects – Delay, Reverb, Compressor, and Enhancer.

Despite a large number of samples, MonasteryGrand performed rather well on my test laptop with 16 GB of RAM installed. I did encounter one crash (probably caused by a memory issue) when trying to use the harmonizer effect for the first time, but everything worked fine after a restart.

To download and install your free copy of the MSoundFactory Player plugin, obtain the MeldaProduction’s universal product installer package (a separate 287 MB download) and select MSoundFactory during the installation process. This will install the 7-day trial version of the MSoundFactory software. Once the trial expires, you can continue using the free MSoundFactory Player edition of the plugin. You can also download the MSoundFactory Essentials sound collection, which contains an additional 2.78 GB of sound material.

To install the MonasteryGrand sound library, load the MSoundFactory Player plugin and click the Menu button in the upper-right corner of the GUI. In the drop-down menu, choose the “Install product” option and select the downloaded MonasteryGrand installation files. This will extract the sample content and MonasteryGrand in show up in the plugin’s preset browser. Keep in mind that the extracted files will occupy additional hard drive space, so you might want to delete the installation file afterward.

The MSoundFactory Player software is available with all VST, VST3, AU, and AAX plugin hosts on PC and Mac. Both 32-bit and 64-bit digital audio workstations are supported. There are no activation and product registration requirements.
