Waves Audio and YouTuber Valentina Bilancieri offer the Waves H-Comp plugin for FREE for the next 48 hours.
There’s really not much new to say about Waves H-Comp. It’s a classic Waves plugin that was released all the way back in 2009. We covered it numerous times here on Bedroom Producers Blog, most recently in February this year.
It was offered for free many times in the past. However, if you still haven’t claimed a free copy or if you want to update your old Waves H-Comp license, now is a good time as ever to get it for free.
The latest deal comes from Valentina Bilancieri, who has an awesome YouTube channel with over 80k subscribers. She teamed up with Waves Audio to offer the H-Comp for free, and the deal ends in less than 48 hours.

If you still haven’t used the plugin, the Waves Hybrid Compressor, or H-Comp, provides a blend of vintage and modern compression qualities. I used it in various projects and keep returning to it because it’s simple to use while providing a decent sound.
Its standout features include an easy-to-use interface, an excellent punch control, a mix option for parallel compression, and analog coloration modes. I also appreciate the low CPU hit. It’s not surprising for a plugin from 2009, though.
However, H-Comp lacks automatic makeup gain, saturation control for analog modes, and sidechain capabilities. I would love to see more detailed coloring options on this one.
Basically, it’s a dependable workhorse compressor plugin that’s intuitive and easy to use. It doesn’t excel in any single category, but it’s a well-rounded package that you can rely on. If you’re new to mixing music, H-Comp is an excellent plugin for learning compression.

Unlike a more robust analog emulation like the recent freebie from Softube, H-Comp can be your go-to compressor for simple compression tasks. It’s lightweight and convenient for use across the mix.

Since I have so many compressors already I saw this and thought eh maybe I’ll just skip this one due to lack of a standard convenience feature.
But on the video there’s clearly a big knob saying “OUTPUT” lol so IDK what that would be if not for makeup gain.

onIf i’m not mistaken, that is usually a feature that automatically increases or decreases the perceived output gain to match the original input volume, in order for us to more easily judge what actual effect the plugin is accomplishing (rather than sounding better to our ears due to an increased volume).

onThe best thing about this compressor is the ability to sync the release time to your project tempo – I don’t know why more plugins don’t offer this. Very useful for things such as drums where you want the compression to return to zero before the next hit.
