Tracktion T7 Digital Audio Workstation Is Now FREE!

Tracktion has announced that the T7 DAW digital audio workstation for Windows, MacOS, and Linux is now free to download and use.

Priced at $60 when released back in 2016, the full version of T7 DAW is now freeware. Keep in mind that this is not a “lite” or a feature-limited version of the software. You’re getting the full version of Tracktion’s music production platform completely free of charge. The only limitation is the fact that you won’t have access to full technical support. Instead, you’ll need to rely on Tracktion’s community technical support via their FAQ and the KVR user forums. But hey, you’re still getting an incredibly powerful music-making tool completely free of charge.

The team at Tracktion started this trend when they re-released Tracktion 4 as freeware back in 2015 and they kept giving us a new iteration of their flagship DAW for free every year (the previous re-release was T6 DAW). Granted, their flagship digital audio workstation at the moment is Waveform, but it’s still amazing to get the full version of the T7 DAW as a free download.

So, what’s new in T7 DAW compared to Tracktion’s previous freebie? T7 introduces various user interface improvements and workflow optimizations, the most notable of which are the Clip Layer Effects. These allow the user to manipulate the audio at the clip level, thus providing a wide range of sound design opportunities within the arrangement itself. This way, it is a lot easier to create micro-edits and high-detail enhancements which would otherwise need to be done in multiple steps.

Of course, much like the previous versions of Tracktion, T7 DAW offers full VST and AU plugin support, along with a single-panel user interface which is optimized for a super-fast recording and mixing workflow. Instead of forcing the user to toggle between multiple panels, Tracktion conveniently places all of the important controls within a single screen. It might take some time getting used to if you’re coming from a different digital audio workstation, but it definitely provides one of the fastest mixing environments around.

You will need to sign up for a free user account first (valid email address required). When you launch T7 DAW on your computer for the first time, you’ll be asked to enter your registered email address and user account password to register your free copy of T7 DAW.

It comes with all the tools you need for music recording and production, along with support for third-party virtual effects and instruments.
