Linda Audio releases Digimorph, a FREE experimental synth VST for Windows

Linda Audio has released Digimorph, a free experimental synth VST for Windows.

Synth VSTs are often heavily inspired by existing hardware instruments and, in some cases, directly emulate them, like Vavra, a Waldorf MicroQ emulation.

It’s not just free synths that often venture down the emulation path; releases like Baby Audio’s BA-1 are the same. If you haven’t heard it yet, BA-1 emulates the Yamaha CS-01 (1982), and I’ve used it a bunch since it launched.

I’m talking about emulations because while we love a good one, it’s sometimes nice to hear something fresh, and Digimorph aims to be that.

Digimorph is an experimental digital synthesizer that creates something new by combining additive and subtractive synthesis with a powerful modulation matrix.

The heart of Digimorph is the additive non-band limited oscillator, which has three distinct modes: monophonic, polyphonic, and live-arp.

Digimorph allows up to sixteen voices in polyphonic mode. In live-arp mode, the notes you press automatically create an arpeggiated sequence, as typically expected.

The interface color scheme reminded me of the Yamaha PSR 3 I had when I was young, and it’s pretty in-your-face. However, as bright as it is, it’s not complete chaos like the first glance suggests.

The color-coded sections each have a pretty clear function.

The yellow section provides classic oscillator parameters like Pitch, Fine-Tune, Amp, Pan, Glide, and Spread.

Violet is the additive section where you can set gains of harmonics and adjust other parameters such as Phase Shift and Harmonic Slope.

The orange section has controls for Pulse Width, Wave Shaper, Ring Mod, and Ring Speed. The grey section is a bit more destructive, allowing you to divide the bit rate, introduce feedback, and add random pitch variations.

You also get ample modulation via two ADSR envelopes and two LFOs. In addition, each oscillator is followed by a multi-mode, state-variable resonant filter. You also get various effects, including Chorus, Delay, and Reverb.

Digimorph comes with 200 presets, ranging from ethereal pads to chiptune leads. It has quite a raw, dystopian character, and that’s pretty cool.

Digimorph is available in VST2 format for Windows.

Yes indeed! I’m a fan of his Stargazer plugin.

I’m personally totally confused as to how to install this synth. I downloaded the 64 bit dll. Its only a vst 2. All i have is the synth. No menus, no presets. I have no understanding of this blogger business. I can’t find a support section. So unless someone knows the answer to these problems, I’ll just delete the dll and be done with it.

hi, what DAW do you use? Normally you should just copy the .dll file to your VST2 folder and everything should work as expected when you open the plugin in your DAW.

I promise the synth will get 100000% more use from me with a random for oscs, filters, mods, mod destinations, effects, and envs. Also i can almost guarantee it will get 100000% more youtube mentions too… because it DOES SOUND EPIC AS HELL RIGHT NOW.

so lets do the math hehehe 100 uses from me before i try to remake similar sounds in surgext x 1000 = A WOPPING 100000 uses before i go to surgext.

      20 mentions by youtube influencers x 1000 = A MASSIVE 20000 MENTIONS!!

So i really hope you consider adding the randomise features! You could add a percentage of randomisation so as to make variations of existing patches

This synth is begging for it!! no?

Thank you for the comment! Yes, I definitely plan to add randomization in an update.
