BABY Audio Celebrates 5th Anniversary, Get I Heart NY for $5!

By Tomislav ZlaticAugust 24, 202413 Comments2 Mins Read
I Heart NY

BABY Audio celebrates its 5th Anniversary (CONGRATULATIONS! 🥳) by offering its first-ever release, the I Heart NY parallel compressor, for only $5 until August 28th.

As someone who writes about VST plugins daily, I’ve seen many developers come and go, but only a select few manage to stand out and become household names among the music production crowd.

BABY Audio became an instant hit after releasing I Heart NY in 2019, and the company has quickly grown to become one of the leading plugin providers in the market.

And honestly, it’s hard not to love BABY Audio’s products.

They’re not trying to reinvent the wheel, nor are they copying other plugin creators. However, BABY Audio consistently manages to produce plugins that bring something new to the table.

Every BABY Audio plugin has a unique feature or a combination of features you won’t find anywhere else. Their interfaces look great, their marketing is fun and not “in your face,” and they don’t skimp on freebies, either.

If you haven’t already downloaded BABY Audio’s freeware plugins, such as Beat Slammer or Pitch Drift, what are you waiting for?

So, let’s hope these first five years are only the beginning for BABY Audio and that the best is yet to come!

Until then, you can grab BABY Audio’s first plugin for only $5 until August 28th.

I Heart NY is a straightforward yet powerful parallel compressor. It will convert you into a fan of parallel compression, even if you’re completely unfamiliar with the concept.

In short, it simplifies the process of blending dry and heavily compressed signals, making it easy to find the sweet spot where compression enhances the sound without overpowering it.

I Heart NY is my go-to plugin for NY-style compression because it’s effortless to set up on a channel. I’ve used it in countless sound design projects, and I’m always impressed by how it enhances the sound when placed on the master bus.

It’s perfect for making something sound huge without destroying the transients.

The plug-in’s simplicity and solid sound make it a fantastic option for those who want to try analog compression. And for the limited-time price of $5, it’s basically a no-brainer.

Can confirm that Heart NY is fantastic on spoken vocals, as the compressor signal’s ‘smile curve’ dip is situated perfectly to naturally reduce midrange rhinality. I’ve used it many times for various participants’ voices on the Music Production Podcast.

A cool trick is to hit the solo button on the plugin’s GUI and apply it to a parallel channel in the DAW — like as an extra chain on an Ableton Audio Effect Rack, for example — to ‘inject spank’ alongside dry or otherwise-processed signal.

    Also great on drums.

That’s definitely the most elaborate 3D mockup I’ve ever seen of a plugin. It’s even got a little coating of dust and grime!

Happy 5th Anniversary Baby Audio. I got the plugin in Creative FX bundle some years back. Good one on drums.

    Totally out of topic.
Is it me or does everyone feel that the number of free plugins have reduced this year.
Because last year I remember getting a whole lot of free plugins.

Honestly, there are more this year, but there are less innovative ones in some cases. I think we’ve already hit the edge where there is more plugins than we need. I’m watching the majors even slow down because there’s nothing left to emulate except super rare pieces or stuff that’s already available. I dont need another 1176, but now the free ones are even better than stuff that was at gold standard level years ago like Audio Obsession over UAD. There have even been releases from majors this year of collections that just were unnecessary like Arturia’s additions of a 303 and the synths. Native Instruments and Plugin Alliance can make stuff, or do some updates, but there nothing super new from the past and plenty of indie devs are working on great small projects that really put so much to rest. And the few big (and some indie) devs that do have great stuff are honestly doing some great updates that are freeish like Pigments, Phase Plant, Synthmaster 3, I mean. I dont need more drums. I dont need more synths. I dont need more compressors or reverbs or delays. We are solid. I’d like a new arpeggiator, but I mean I’m watching Softube push a 160 or Izotope give me trash Trash. Auto-Tune struggles to give reasons to upgrade and Melda has more than anyone could ever need. Musio and EastWest are basically giving away what used to cost tens of thousands. I love it, dont get me wrong, but …

Hey thanks for the elaborate comment. As you rightly mentioned we all have more plugins than we need. Air Windows have been creating some cool plugins which now comes in a bundle call Consolidated. Its basically all their plugin in one VST.

Frankly speaking majority of the Bedroom Producers are hoarders of free VST plugins, myself included.
After going through all now I want to limit myself to selected 8-10 plugins. Bedroom producers have played a major role in directing us towards Quality VST plugins.

Yes, there are far less innovations but I think still there is a lot of scope for new Plugin Developers.
For instance there were a lot cool 32 Bit VST and DX plugins which I have which has no 64 bit alternatives.

WOK , Sonitus , De La Mancha, Antress to name a few.
Happy that Variety of Sound is back in business with 64 bit gems.

Anyways let me stick to the selected few … Or Will I ;)
