From Stone Voices comes DReverb 2.0, a freshly updated free plugin for creating high-quality algorithmic reverbs.
You might remember DReverb from last year, a very well-received reverb plugin from Stone Voices. The popular freeware plugin is back, now in version 2.0, with a few tweaks and a slight interface refresh.
The man behind Stone Voices is Vasily Makarov, who also brought us Ambient Reverb and the granular synth plugin PolyGAS (which is no longer supported).
Anyone who used the first version of DReverb will find this latest update familiar, as the superficial changes are minor.
One of the most interesting features of the first DReverb was the wide range of decay times (0.1 – 100 seconds), and that remains the case with this update.
However, DReverb 2.0 builds on the popularity of the long decay time with a Freeze function, allowing you to freeze the reverb tail indefinitely.
The Freeze function is an excellent way to create ambient textures when you don’t want to fill space with anything more specific.
You also have the option to block the signal to the reverb input while in Freeze mode, with the output signal being exclusively frozen.
The interface follows the same general design with controls grouped into five groups:
- Level – Mix
- Space – Predelay, Diffusion, and Width
- Modulation (previously Excusion) – Rate and Depth
- Filter – Lo Cut and Hi Cut
- Damping (previously Crossover) – Bass Ratio, Xover, and Hi Damp
The freely-resizable interface has had a minor but worthwhile reshuffle, and the large Decay Time knob is now on the left side of the interface. It was previously in the center and divided the Space controls, which isn’t a huge problem, but it’s neater now.
Another new and welcome feature is the Wet Only function, which means only the wet signal passes to the output, no matter where you set the Mix knob.
It has 32 factory presets and 64-bit sound processing and doesn’t hit the CPU hard.
DReverb 2.0 is available in AU, VST2, and VST3 formats for macOS (10.11 upwards) and Windows (8, 8.1, 10, 11).
With less than one week left to enter our Decadence Trailer Toms giveaway, I’ll remind you all to enter every chance I get. Do it now!

They are the same that publish Beat mag, so hope it goes more smoothly than the giveaway this week.

onI hope we get a revamped PolyGAS some time down the line. I don’t even need new features, it’s just gotta be stable, something the current version is not.

onNot Apple Silicon native.
